Celebrated 10-piece afro-fusion collective TC & The Groove Family have announced the dancefloor DLC to last years’ BBC Radio 6 & Jazz FM-backed debut album ‘First Home’.

The remix project builds upon the collaborative ethos at the core of TC & The Groove Family, with remixers selected to represent different genres, cities and scenes across the UK and beyond. It’s a way of extending the family beyond just the group, opening the floor for other voices and audiences to interpret the music. The project will release digitally, and on a limited run of 100 white label LPs.

Representing London, Blue Lab Beats’ fierce, trap-fuelled ‘Bossfight’ remix injects a new energy into Pariss Elektra’s empowering lyrics, whilst Bristol is represented by the subtle ambience and beauty of t l k’s ‘Duende’, which sheds a whole new light on the healing emotion at the core of the song.

There are also contributions for the junglists from Groove Family member NikNak and Repertoire’s RUNDR, plus a 140 bruk remix of 'Weh Dem A Do?' by French producer Nikitch. Finally, a jazz-dance samba remix of Tio finishes proceedings, sent with love from Glasgow’s Rebecca Vasmant.

There's something about the composition, this kinda takes that AJE feel and smishes it into something a whole lot more...darker? Not really, it's got lightness, it's definitely got rhythm and it grooves, deeply, right into your soul. Love this album, think it's my favourite release so far this year. Not for now is an absolute earworm...be warned! Dajazzman
